baby's boat
04:29
|
|||
baby's boat's the silver moon,
sailing in the sky
sailing o'er the sea of sleep
while the clouds flow by
sail baby sail
out upon that sea
only don't forget to sail
back again to me
baby's fishing for a dream
fishing near and far
his line a silver moonbeam is
his bait a silver star
sail baby sail
out upon that sea
only don't forget to sail
back again to me

first brush teeth time
oh the day was good
we did all we good
oh it'll be ok
tomorrow's another day
oh you rub your eyes
soon they'll shut tight
oh kiss you on the head
cozy in your bed
oh the song's working
you sleep while i sing

old paint
02:27
|
|||
i ride an old paint, i lead an old dan
i’m off to Montana to throw the houlihand
they feed in the coolies, they water in the draw
their tails are all matted, their backs are all raw.
ride around, little dogies, oh ride around slow
the fiery and the snuffy are rarin’ to go
old bill jones had two daughters and a song
one went to denver, the other went wrong
his wife she died in a pool-room fight
still he keeps singing from morning to night.
ride around, little dogies, oh ride around slow
the fiery and the snuffy are rarin’ to go
when i die, take my saddle from the wall
put it on my pony and lead him from the stall
tie my bones to his back, head him for the west
we’ll ride the prairies that we love the best
ride around, little dogies, oh ride around slow
the fiery and the snuffy are rarin’ to go

oh my little boy
01:58
|
|||
oh my little boy my sleepy-o
sleepy is as sleepy goes
don’t you know you’re going to go right down
oh you are my little honey pie
you gotta close your sleepy eye
don’t know you’re gonna go right down to sleep
oh you’re just a sleepy little boo
sleep is as sleepy do
and you know that you are gonna go down
oh I think I see a little evening star
sleepy is a what you are
and you know you gotta go down to sleep
oh you are my sleepy little love
sleepy is as sleepy does
and you know you’re gonna go right down
to sleep

call the yowes
04:11
|
|||
call the yowes tae the knowes
call them where the heather grows
call them where the burnie rolls
my bonnie dearie.
as I went down the water side
there I met my shepherd lad
he rolled me sweetly in his plaid
and he called me his dearie
will you go down the water side
to see the waves so sweetly glide
beneath the hazels spreading wide
the moon it shines full clearly
you shall have gowns and ribbons meet
calf leather shoes upon your feet
and in my arms you'll lie and sleep
and you shall be my dearie
if you'll but stand to what you said
I'll go with you my shepherd lad
and you may roll me in your plaid
and I shall be your dearie
while waters wimple to the sea
while day blinks in the sky so high
til clay cold death shall blind my eye
you shall be my dearie
call the yowes tae the knowes
call them where the heather grows
call them where the burnie rolls
my bonnie dearie.

lavender’s blue
01:43
|
|||
lavender’s blue, dilly dilly, lavender’s green
when I am king, dilly dilly, you shall be queen
who told you so, dilly dilly, who told you so?
’twas my own heart, dilly dilly, that told me so.
call up your men, dilly dilly, put them to work
some with a rake, dilly dilly, some with a fork
some to make hay, dilly dilly, some to plant corn
while you and I, dilly dilly, keep ourselves warm.
lavender’s blue, dilly dilly, lavender’s green
when I am king, dilly dilly, you shall be queen
lavender’s green, dilly dilly, lavender’s blue
you must love me, dilly dilly, ‘cause I love you.

english translation:
The cradle is carved,
and a boy inside, as if painted.
The cradle is of chestnut,
and the boy can already run around.
The cradle is hazelnut,
and the boy has has brought happiness.
The cradle is walnut,
and the boy is (as dear as) crystal.

castle of dromore
03:44
|
|||
the october winds lament around
the castle of dromore
yet peace is in her lofty halls,
my loving treasure store
though autumn leaves may droop and die,
a bud of spring are you
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo lu-lo-lan
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo-lu.
bring no ill will to hinder us,
my helpless babe and me
dread spirits of the blackwater,
clan owen's wild banshee
and holy mary, pitying us,
in heaven for grace doth sue
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo lu-lo-lan
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo-lu.
take time to thrive, my ray of hope,
in the garden of dromore
take heed young eaglet til thy wings
are feathered fit to soar
a little rest and then the world
is full of work to do
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo lu-lo-lan
sing hush-o-bye lu-lo-lu.

lullaby niggun
05:17
|
|||
brian would sometimes sing this melody to noah. with so many american traditional songs on the album, he also wanted something of the jewish tradition he is part of to be on the album. we thought this would make for both a transcendent and simple ending where you can just hear two people being themselves and spontaneously harmonizing with each other.
